Open Source = freedom to create

Motivations for using and developing open source software are mixed, ranging from philosophical and ethical reasons to pure practical issues.

The Open Source community attracts very bright, very motivated developers, who although frequently unpaid, are often very disciplined. In addition, these developers are not part of corporate cultures where the best route to large salaries is to move into management, hence some Open Source developers are amongst the most experienced in the industry. In addition all users of Open Source products have access to the source code and debugging tools, and hence often suggest both bug fixes and enhancements as actual changes to the source code. Consequently the quality of software produced by the Open Source community sometimes exceeds that produced by purely commercial organisations.

Advantages: the availability of the source code and the right to modify it; the right to redistribute modifications and improvements to the code; the right to use the software in any way; no black boxes are possible; there are fewer conflicting priorities due to marketing pressures; it provides a new forum for democratic action; less evil, more ethic and freedom.

I am free ... to create, to be green, to make our world a little bit better!

What is SEO?

The most basic advice we can give for achieving optimum rank for your site is to do the following: Develop great, original content, directed toward your intended audience, use well-architected code in your webpages ...

There are is collection of necessary practices to make SEO work:
- landing page optimization (good copywriting, usability, visual and path analysis)
- web analytics (another infant industry)
- focused search (filters like local and vertical by industry or content type)
- reputation/brand management (keeping close eye on what people are saying about you and your company)

SEO is not push button marketing and it is not for the impatient. The minimum amount of time we recommend is 6 months after implementation before evaluating whether SEO has promise as a profitable marketing channel.

The most common myth about SEO is that SEO is easy and cheap one-time event. Nope! If it was really that easy, everyone would do it and get to no.1 in Google. And if it was really that cheap, companies wouldn't spend thousands of dollars for their promotional campaigns. SEO is not a technical trick ... it is a very good marketing philosophy about great content.

Website ethics

If you use a website promotion tool that uses unethical tricks and techniques, you’ll put your web business at severe risk. Unethical tricks might work for some time but they are not a good idea if you want lasting results.

Ethical search engine optimization techniques that produce lasting results:
- optimization of existing web pages, HTML code and web page contents
- organic link building to get high quality inbound links
- building a win-win-win relationship between webmasters, web surfers and search engines

Ethical search engine optimization leads to a symbiotic relationship:

Search engines: They win as they are provided with pages that are easy to understand and that contain the quality information that their visitors search for.

Searchers : They win as they are getting what they ask for from the search engines. They search for "green widgets" and get a page about green widgets.

Website owners : They win as they are getting quality visitors who are interested in what their website has to offer.
